It has been defined as "an integrated system of plant and animal production practices having a site - specific application that lasts over the long term".

The Unilever Sustainable Agriculture Code is Unilever’s standard of Sustainable Agriculture. With this code, Unilever asks its suppliers and farmers who supply them, to adopt sustainable practices on their farms. All suppliers of agricultural raw materials to Unilever are expected to make a commitment to join Unilever’s sustainability journey. They need to demonstrate that they agree to maintain minimum standards of performance and continuously improve over time.
